The Arctic Day

On May 20, 2021, the Arctic Day was held in an online format, organized by Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter.

This event was attended by more than 40 people from 10 Russian universities. At the opening ceremony, the welcoming speech was delivered by:

- Anastasia Kritinina, President of GU SPE SC 

- Sergey Silin, member of the organizing committee of the Gubkin Case Club

- Artem Eliseev, main organizer of the Arctic Day 

During the Arctic Day, the following events were held:

• Lecture "Technologies of development of oil and gas fields on the shelf" by Ivan Mikhailovich Kurchatov, oil and gas production operator of Gazpromneft-Prirazlomnoye LLC

• The quiz "How well do you know the Arctic?" was organized, as a result of which the winner who most successfully answered the proposed questions was determined.

• Lecture "Trends in International Cooperation in the Arctic" from Associate Professor of the Department of Legal Security of the Fuel and Energy Complex, Candidate of Political Sciences, Executive Secretary of the International Expert Council for Cooperation in the Arctic (IECCA) Dmitry Andreevich Medvedev.

• The Case club held a case in which 3 teams of 5 people each participated. Based on the results of the presentation of the solutions, the winning team with the best result was selected.

The results of the event were announced at the closing ceremony. Sergey Silin, Project Manager of the Gubkin Case Club, and Artem Yeliseyev, the main organizer of the Arctic Day, spoke at the conference.

We sincerely thank the distinguished lecturers for their interesting material and willingness to assist in involving students in studying the problems of the Arctic as a strategic region for the Russian Federation, the leadership of the Gubkin Case Club for creating and conducting the case, which was very exciting and informative for the teams, as well as the organizational staff of the event for their activities and the participants of the event for their interest in the Arctic region!

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL OF GUBKIN UNIVERSITY 2021

From 5 to 9 July 2021, the annual international educational summer school of Gubkin University was held for students and specialists of the oil and gas industry.   The Summer School included two areas: "Drilling and Well Construction" and "Sustainable Marine and Subsea Technologies". XIII International Youth Scientific and Practical Congress “Oil and Gas Horizons”

From 16 to 19 November the XIII International Youth Scientific and Practical Congress “Oil and Gas Horizons” was held at the National University of Oil and Gas “Gubkin University” in a hybrid format. The Congress is organized annually by the Gubkin University Student Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). This year, the Congress was attended 219 students, postgraduates and young professionals from 45 universities from 30 countries, including: Algeria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Colombia, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lebanon, Libya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Serbia, Sudan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam and Yemen.
