International Youth Scientific and Practical Congress "Oil and Gas Horizons”

International Youth Scientific and Practical Congress "Oil and Gas Horizons” is the event, organized by the Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter. It takes place at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University). The official language of the Congress is English.

During these 13 years the Congress has become a brand, known all over the world, and established as a platform for knowledge and experience sharing between students and experts of oil and gas industry. Annually the scales of the Congress increases. In 2020, about 128 students, undergraduates and postgraduates from 43 universities of 15 countries became the Congress participants.

The program of the Congress includes Paper Contest, Round Table, Intellectual Game PetroOlympic Games, Technical Lecture, Soft-Skill Training, Technical Case and Sightseeing around Moscow. The event provides a unique opportunity for students of the world's leading universities studying in various areas of the oil and gas industry to share their knowledge and experience with each other. The works of the speakers will be published in the Book of Abstracts with an ISBN code after the Congress. The judges of the Congress will be experts from the faculties of the University and from leading oil and gas companies.

Within the framework of the Student Paper Contest, the following sections are provided:

  • Geosciences;
  • Drilling and Completion;
  • Oil and Gas Fields Development;
  • Oil and Gas Transportation, Storage and Logistics;
  • Health, Safety, Environment;
  • Oil and Gas Chemistry;
  • Petroleum Economics and Management;
  • “Smart” Technologies.

And three sessions for PhD students:

  • PhD Paper Contest Upstream;
  • PhD Paper Contest Midstream;
  • PhD Paper Contest Downstream.

As well as special sessions:

  • Poster Section;
  • Energy4me.

The "Oil and Gas Horizons" congress, in addition to a lot of experience and bright emotions, gives participants a lot of new acquaintances, both with experts of the oil and gas industry and with the same students from all over the world. Winners of the competition of scientific works and intellectual game will be awarded with valuable prizes from sponsors and partners of the Congress.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL OF GUBKIN UNIVERSITY 2021

From 5 to 9 July 2021, the annual international educational summer school of Gubkin University was held for students and specialists of the oil and gas industry.   The Summer School included two areas: "Drilling and Well Construction" and "Sustainable Marine and Subsea Technologies". XIII International Youth Scientific and Practical Congress “Oil and Gas Horizons”

From 16 to 19 November the XIII International Youth Scientific and Practical Congress “Oil and Gas Horizons” was held at the National University of Oil and Gas “Gubkin University” in a hybrid format. The Congress is organized annually by the Gubkin University Student Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). This year, the Congress was attended 219 students, postgraduates and young professionals from 45 universities from 30 countries, including: Algeria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Colombia, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lebanon, Libya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Serbia, Sudan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam and Yemen.
