SPE WEEK
From 14th to 20th September SPE WEEK took place at the Gubkin University . During this week, students got acquainted with the chapter’s life, with current projects, and took part in lectures, games and competitions.
The first day started with two online lectures, which attended by over 50 people. Students from different faculties and years have connected to the online-platform and listened to invited speakers! Sergey Kolbikov, Head of the Department for Forecasting and Monitoring of Field Development of PJSC NOVATEK spoke about the large mining assets, in particular the preparation and launch of the asset - Yamal LNG. He also told about the geological and geographical challenges (harsh weather conditions, remote areas, etc.), as well as implementing an integrated approach in operating condensate fields, and so on. Andrey Vladimirovich Mitrofanov, principal Engineer- adjuster, John Zink Hamworthy Combustion shared his experience of working with foreign burner and flare equipment. He also explained how industrial enterprises reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
The intellectual game PetroOlympic Games took place on Thursday, in which more than 20 people were participating. The game was played online on the Discord platform. There were 3 rounds (first round - "T9", second round - "Naftoloto" (an analogue of its game on the oil and gas topic), 3 round "Guess Who" (two teams that reached the final are competing in guessing the authors of quotations)). The game was held in a friendly atmosphere, all participants received positive emotions.
On the 18th September there was organised the first call at this academic year. In this video-conference took part 4 chapters from the Gubkin University (Russia), the University of Louisiana (the USA), the University of Pennsylvania (the USA) and the University of Belgrade (Serbia). Representatives from different universities told about the structure of their chapters and annual events. Also, it was talked about the activities of the chapters during the pandemic situations. To sum up, it was discussed the opportunities for the future collaboration between SPE chapters.
Two excursions to the Pavilion "Oil", the restoration was managed by PJSC Lukoil at VDNKh park, took place on Saturday, 19th September. More than 20 students attended the excursions and learned more about the oil and gas industry, in particular, about the history of the oil field. All the participants enjoyed the excursion, because with the help of interactive exhibits, they were able to consolidate their existing theoretical knowledge, as well as learn about new technologies in production.
