The SPE Regional Student Development Summit of Russia and the Caspian Region
The SPE Regional Student Development Summit of Russia and the Caspian Region was held from 19th to 21st October 2020. The event was attended by young professionals and students from Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Gubkin University was represented at the Summit by Anastasia Vikhritskaya, a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Ecology, Head of the secretary of GU SPE SC.
This year the summit was held online. For three days, the summit participants were working in groups, solving a technical case, and also communicating with professionals not only about the development of industry technologies, but also about career development in such a difficult time.
On the first day, Yaroslava Orlova, Lead Coordinator of Non-Commercial Projects of the SPE Russia-Caspian Region, and Ignatiy Volnov, SPE Russian-Caspian Upcoming Regional Director were giving welcoming speeches. The speakers noted the importance for students in participating at events organized by the Society.
At the summit event Maria Angela Capello, Senior Advisor to the Deputy CEO of Kuwait Oil Company in charge of Northern Kuwait, has given a lecture “Remote working: cultural and diversity perspective”. Besides that, Raushan Raiskhanova, MBA, the first Professional in Human Resources in Kazakhstan, has provided a lecture "How to adapt to the new reality and get a job through an interview."
In addition, the participants were working in teams and solving a technical case. Based on rigorous analysis and detailed estimation, participants had to justify the purchase one field’s license from three fields. Anastasia Vikhritskaya’s team took first place.
All participants appreciated the decent level of the event in the current epidemiological situation. They were also able to communicate and work with international students in teams, get acquainted with industry professionals, get career advice and learn even more about the oil industry.
